Mark Walinske, Author
Essays and books exploring fly fishing, learning, confidence, belonging, simplicity, and the human side of becoming.
Reflections
This book explores the quiet tension between knowledge, tradition, instinct, and belief through the lens of rivers, anglers, and two very different “Johns.” Part fishing story and part reflection on human nature, it examines what people choose to trust—and how certain flies, ideas, and stories somehow endure. Two men. One river. And a disagreement that became fly-fishing doctrine.
The Journey
This book explores the real journey of becoming a fly fishing angler—from the first curiosity to the quieter, more meaningful moments that follow. Focused less on technique and more on the human side of learning, it reflects on confidence, doubt, patience, and the often-overlooked middle where growth quietly takes shape.
Wellbeing Pathway
This book was written after the first edition revealed something unexpected: many people were not searching for fly fishing alone, but for calm, clarity, belonging, and a healthier relationship with modern life. Whether you are a lifelong angler, a complete beginner, or simply searching for a more grounded way forward, this book offers an invitation rather than instruction.
